I will admit that I am one of those all-black-wearing-new-yorkers.  But there is something about the color Navy that gives an equal amount of demure and everyone is going to be wearing it this fall. We saw navy everywhere from the 2013 resort collections, like the beautiful Celine story, Tucker and Kenzo, among others.

How to get the Navy look.

I adore the nostalgic aesthetic of the Kenzo brand, it is very youthful and fun with loads of luxury.  I paired this navy wool-blend Kenzo sweater with a leather pleated Karl skirt to play on that youth.  The maturity comes in with the dainty navy Weitzman kitten heels, croc hunter green Kara Ross clutch and the Aurelie Bidermann collar.  Add a printed sock with the kitten heels for a day-to-night transition.

 

This look is far more mature than the Kenzo look above,  but equally as Navy filled with edge!  For fall, I really like the idea of pairing dresses over pants, a look that we've seen over and over on the runway.  Its a play on silhouette that I'm sure we'll see more of in street style.  I paired this navy, light-blue and pale yellow print Jonathan Saunders dress with navy and antique white floral print Lim trousers.  These prints work together because they share a common palette, in this case the navy and the pale-yellow/antique white.  I gave the look a bit more toughness by adding the navy and black Bottega sandal.  For contrast and to add a bit of color to the look, I paired it with the Jil Sander oragami-inspired pleated turquoise shoulder bag.
